HUTCHINSON JO VOLLEYBALL

COVID-19 PREPAREDNESS AND SAFETY PLAN

2021-2022 SEASON

It is the goal of Hutchinson JO Volleyball to follow the COVID-19 requirements/policies put in place by federal, state, local, facilities in use, and USAV-NCR. Hutchinson JO Volleyball relies on the participation of our membership and our coaches in mitigating the spread of COVID-19 throughout our organization. We ask that parents/players notify us any time one of the items noted below impacts you. Masks are not required (unless noted down below) but recommended for teams and staff not competing, and for officials and spectators when attending practice and/or Hutchinson sponsored competitions. To promote a SAFE environment, Hutchinson JO reminds everyone to STAY HOME if you are feeling sick, have a fever, or are experiencing any other symptoms related to COVID-19 or any other sickness.

Coach or Athlete Testing Positive for COVID-19

When a coach or athlete tests positive for COVID-19, whether vaccinated or not, they must quarantine for 5 days. If they have no symptoms or their symptoms are resolved after 5 days that player/coach may return to Hutchinson JO Volleyball while wearing a mask for an additional 5 days when around others. Hutchinson JO Volleyball requires those returning after the quarantine to always wear a tight-fitting mask and social distance when possible. Players/coaches not wanting to wear a mask must quarantine for 10 days. The first day of isolation (quarantine) is considered day 0 (zero) starting from the day the person started having symptoms, or from the day the test was taken (if there were no symptoms). Coaches should report their positive test result to the Hutch JO Board at hutchjovolleyball@gmail.com as well as their co-coach(es) and team members. Parents should report their athlete’s positive test result to their team coaches AND via email to hutchjovolleyball@gmail.com.

No Contact Tracing or Quarantining for Close Contacts

Hutchinson JO Volleyball does not perform close contact tracing. Instead, team coaches and/or the Hutch JO Board will notify the entire team by email of any close contact exposures as well as provide recommendations for testing and monitoring. We will also attempt to learn of and notify families when there has been a possible close contact exposure due to another interaction between athletes and/or coaches (in practice, ride sharing, working together in admissions or concessions, etc.). Close contact exposure is defined as someone testing positive for COVID-19 or developing symptoms of COVID-19 within 24-48 hours of a practice/competition with other teammates and/or coaches.

Coach or Athlete Household Member of Positive Individual

All unvaccinated persons, anyone who has completed Pfizer or Moderna primary vaccine series more than 6 months ago and are not boosted, or those who have not had COVID-19 in the past 90 days, who live in a household with someone who has tested positive must quarantine for 5 days. Household members have the option to test on or after day 5 and may return on day 6 wearing a tight-fitting mask for 5 days. Players/coaches not wanting to wear a mask must quarantine for 10 days. Vaccinated individuals with a booster, or those who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 90 days, do not need to quarantine but should wear a mask for 10 days.

Questions regarding this policy should be directed to the Board or hutchjovolleyball@gmail.com

These policies are based on the CDC guidelines published December 27, 2021. As always, we will continue to monitor and assess our COVID-19 policies and modify them if/when it is determined prudent to do so. Further, we continuously track local community, county, state and national conditions to guide us in our decision-making. Thank you for your continued support as we continue to take steps to keep our players and coaches safe.
